Welcome to King Johns Hunting Lodge, Axbridge, Somerset. The museum is housed in a property owned by the National Trust, in the centre of Medieval Axbridge. It is run by The Axbridge and District Museum Trust, a group of dedicated local volunteers.
The 2012 season commences on Saturday 31st March 2012 when we open our doors and have our official opening. Explore our website and keep up to date with the latest news via our ‘NEWS‘ link.
We can cater for groups outside the opening times. Appointments are necessary for school visits, (please use our contact form). We recommend that all groups book in advance, even if your visit is during our opening hours.
Entrance fees have become necessary as our District Council no longer provides sponsorship. We have kept them as low as possible and are only charging adults. It’s good value at £2.50 a head since the ticket is valid for free re-entry for the whole season. We must also charge National Trust members, however all under 16’s free. This is because the National Trust only own the property & do not manage the property.
We are recruiting Corporate Friends, businesses that are willing to support this museum. You may contact us for more information, with no obligation to commit.
As you explore our website you will find out more of the history of this 450 year old building. We trust you will wish to explore and experience this wonderful building for yourselves.
We look forward to welcoming you in the near future. If you wish to make an enquiry, please use the ‘contact us’ link. We’ll endeavour to respond quickly.
